If you are having a difficult time handling your day-to-day life, whether due to overwhelm, anxiety, depression, grief, or anything else, therapy can help.
You may have concerns about therapy and how it will work for you, but that is what our free consultations are for: to get a feel for Heather, therapy as a whole, and how we can work together to help you.

Therapy and Approach
-
A typical therapy session lasts 50 to 60 minutes and usually occurs weekly or biweekly.
Check-in: You begin by sharing how you’ve been since your last session and what feels important to address.
Exploration: Your therapist helps you explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours related to your concerns.
Reflection and insight: Together, you identify patterns, consider new perspectives, and develop greater self-understanding.
Practice between sessions: When appropriate, your therapist may suggest exercises, strategies, or reflections to try between sessions.
Therapy is a collaborative process. You decide what you feel comfortable sharing and when. Your therapist provides a supportive, non-judgmental space and works with you to develop insights and strategies that support your goals
We suggest, whenever possible, bringing situations and experiences from your own life to sessions, as these can make therapy more relevant and personalized to you.
-
That entirely depends on 1) why you are here, 2) how much you commit to the therapy, and 3) how often you come.
1) If you come to therapy for a situational issue, that has stopped being a concern or that you are learning to deal with, you will notice a change more quickly. If you come to therapy to address a deep-seated concern, it will go more slowly, as you will have to unlearn it all.
2) Coming to therapy is difficult, vulnerable, and can come associated with stigma or a history of bad experiences. It’s natural to not want to dive in head first, but if you hold back, you will not get very good results. The more you open up and cooperate, the more Heather can help you.
3) Although this can sometimes be a strain for insurance, coming to therapy more frequently will help in the long run. Like exercise, your therapy muscles will grow stronger the more you use them. When you go a long time without therapy before you are finished resolving the issue, you will spend much of the following session remembering what happened last time, not moving forward.

We adapt our approach based on what works best for you and the concerns that you have. However, Heather is trained in:
Solution-Focused Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Attachment-informed therapy

Fees and Insurance
-
Individual sessions (one-hour): $140
Couples sessions (one-hour): $180

Most insurance includes psychotherapy in their paramedical benefits, but it is important to check with your provider as coverage and limits may vary from one plan to the next.
-
We don't currently offer direct billing, but this may be possible in the future.
-
You don't need to commit to a block of sessions. However, it can be helpful to schedule your first month in advance. This supports consistency and helps ensure your preferred appointment time is available.
Booking and Logistics
-
Don’t worry! We use Jane as a platform to make appointments, send email reminders, and host our video calls in a safe way. While it’s possible for you to make your own appointments using Jane, you can also simply ignore it.
The only thing related to Jane that you MUST do is click on the “Join Video Call” button that will arrive via email a half hour before your session time, which is very easy!
-
Yes, your receipts will be emailed to you after every appointment is paid for. If you log into Jane, you can access a backlog of every receipt you’ve received from us.
If you’re having trouble, just email Katie and she can send you any receipts you need!
-
Here’s how it works: follow this link and click on the kind of session you are looking for on the left side. This should bring up a schedule with times in grey that are unavailable and times in teal that are available. If you select a time in teal, it will ask you to sign in to finish booking the appointment. Then, you will get an email to confirm.
If you’re having trouble, just email Katie with your available dates and times, and we can find something that works for everyone!
-
You're welcome to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We typically ask for at least 48 hours' notice.
If you need to cancel with less notice but can reschedule within the same week, we will waive the cancellation fee, subject to availability.
